This guide aims to inform regions outside of Great Lakes (NSW) about the how to of setting up and running a shared labour pool project.

The Shared Labour Pool in Great Lakes was the result of a collaboration between Aged Care Services, government and community stakeholders in the Great Lakes area of New South Wales.

By sharing the costs of recruiting, orienting, training and managing a pool of casual employees the project was aimed at reduced recruitment costs for employers and providing them a reliable supply of labour. For workers the project wanted to improve the attractiveness of casual work by offering them enough hours of employment to make working in the sector a viable option.

Eventhough this pool no longer exists, the learnings are interesting for anyone considering a shared labour pool
